Couples

Why Couples Seek Therapy

There’s no one reason couples come to therapy. Some couples need support and skills when they are facing big transitions or challenges which could include: infidelity, parenting stress, communication breakdowns, or growing emotional distance. Others are looking to strengthen their relationship, improve conflict skills, or rediscover intimacy and connection.

We focus not just on what you're fighting about, but how you’re fighting. This is important so that over time, conflict becomes something you can move through rather than something that tears you apart and you will develop the skills to manage conflict effectively on your own. Whatever brings you here, we’ll work together to understand the patterns at play, learn new ways to connect, and build a relationship that feels safe, supportive, and resilient.

What to Expect

  • A safe and non-judgmental space for both partners
  • Honest conversations, gently guided with curiosity and care
  • Tools to communicate more effectively—even during conflict
  • Support to heal old wounds and build new patterns of connection

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you come in. We’ll sort through the mess together.

Modalities

All of our therapists are Level III trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a research-based approach that helps couples improve communication, increase emotional closeness, and manage conflict more effectively. We'll look at what’s working in your relationship, what’s not, and how to create lasting change.

At the same time, our therapists may bring in elements of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and emotionally focused strategies, recognizing how each partner’s personal history and nervous system shape how they relate and respond—especially in moments of stress or disconnection.
